أَوۡ كَظُلُمَٰتٖ فِي بَحۡرٖ لُّجِّيّٖ يَغۡشَىٰهُ مَوۡجٞ مِّن فَوۡقِهِۦ مَوۡجٞ مِّن فَوۡقِهِۦ سَحَابٞۚ ظُلُمَٰتُۢ بَعۡضُهَا فَوۡقَ بَعۡضٍ إِذَآ أَخۡرَجَ يَدَهُۥ لَمۡ يَكَدۡ يَرَىٰهَاۗ وَمَن لَّمۡ يَجۡعَلِ ٱللَّهُ لَهُۥ نُورٗا فَمَا لَهُۥ مِن نُّورٍ
Or [their deeds] are like layers of darkness in a deep sea covered by waves upon waves, above which are clouds - layers of darkness, one above another. If one stretches out his hand, he can hardly see it. Whoever Allah does not give light will have no light at all. (Rowwad Translation)
O bien (sus acciones) se asemejana la oscuridad de un mar profundo donde hay olas cubiertas por olas, y estas, a su vez, cubiertas por nubes; oscuridad sobre oscuridad. Si uno extendiese la mano, apenas podría distinguirla[684]. Y aquel a quien Al-lah no guía con Su luz no podrá guiarse. (Noor International)
(Ces œuvres seront encore) pareilles aux ténèbres (régnant) sur une mer profonde que recouvrent vagues sur vagues, au-dessus desquelles (pèsent) des nuages. Ténèbres (accumulées) les unes sur les autres, où, qui y étend la main, n’arrive qu’à peine à la distinguer. Celui à qui Allah ne donne pas de lumière ne peut avoir de lumière. (Noor International)
अथवा (उनके कर्म) उन अँधेरों के समान हैं, जो अत्यंत गहरे सागर में हों, जिसे एक लहर ढाँप रही हो, जिसके ऊपर एक और लहर हो, जिसके ऊपर एक बादल हो, कई अँधेरे हों, जिनमें से कुछ, कुछ के ऊपर हों। जब (इन अँधेरों में फँसा हुआ व्यक्ति) अपना हाथ निकाले, तो क़रीब नहीं कि उसे देख पाए। और वह व्यक्ति जिसके लिए अल्लाह प्रकाश न बनाए, तो उसके लिए कोई भी प्रकाश[36] नहीं। (Al-Umary)
或如重重黑暗，笼罩着汪洋大海，波涛澎湃，上有黑云，黑暗重重叠叠，观者伸出手来时，几乎不见五指。安拉没有给谁光明，谁就绝无光明。 (Makin)
